Endless Love extended thoughts

Below you can find my extended thoughts on Endless Love.
So, the female lead of this film, who is so bland I forget the character's name, has a ticket into medical school or whatever. But she completely disregards this to follow their love. Because, you know, her future doesn't matter as long as she gets with her boyfriend. Forget your dreams, love is more important! That is explicitly stated by the male lead at one point. And the parents just accept this. It's an unhealthy message to send.

The closest the film comes to unintentional comedy is just how ludicrous it gets in the second half. There's one point where the female lead drives off after an argument with the male lead and immediately gets into an accident. What are the chances? Then there's an airport scene, where the characters violate several airport rules. Those are just some examples of how little grounding in reality this film has.

One of the final things we see is the main couple getting married. There are few hurdles in their relationship, they only have one argument which seems to go away almost immediately, they get right back together even though the female lead found a different man somewhere in the middle of the movie, and they get married. It's such a droll, idealized, boring relationship that almost certainly doesn't exist.

There isn't much for me to put in this page, to be honest. A lot of the more specific faults here are in how much it fails to live up to the novel's themes, and having not read the book I can't say much about this poor adaptation. But, being a bad movie, I at least had a few things to say.
