Iron Man 3 review

Iron Man 3 is the second sequel to the film that started off the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In my opinion, it is a fitting continuation of the popular franchise.

The third installment holds up the successes of the previous films, with great direction and great acting. The action scenes, where they are, are highly entertaining, and visually stunning. The effects are brilliant, to the point where they will probably stand the test of time. The humor, one of the things that set the previous films apart, is still fantastic, although the placing of jokes is often surprising. It's also very well plotted, with a definitely satisfying story.

The film's greatest strength is the character of Tony Stark, who is made more sympathetic than ever before. He's still the arrogant genius we know and love, but he's a more genuinely likable character. He's clearly been affected by the events of The Avengers, and it shows in his new character issues. It really fits into the film, as it has more personal elements to it. Plus Robert Downy Jr. gives a great performance, as always.

Finally, the antagonist is also great. This is a character who is truly despicable. His actions truly show him going beyond the point of redemption. A later twist in the film clears up many of the murkier elements of the film, and gives the story more weight to it.

This is a great start to the summer, showing that Hollywood is picking up its act. It's a great movie, and I would recommend for all of you to watch it.
