Side Effects review

WARNING: Light spoilers

And now for the other movie I watched, Side Effects. This movie may be hard to review, as many of the things to praise would carry spoilers. I can confirm, however, that it is excellent.

Side Effects is a movie that starts up with a weighty tone as it carefully constructs its setting. It makes you know the characters and there circumstances very well, so that when the plot really kicks into motion, the barrage of twists keeps you completely on your toes. It's a movie that revels in the suspense it creates, with the tension only growing until being completely released in the immensely satisfying climax.

It should be noted that the first ~40 minutes of the film can be misleading about the film's nature, but that is the point, as it creates a puzzle where the pieces don't fit. This is made all the better by strong performances from the cast, who play their characters exceptionally. This fits the meaty, intelligent plot, which constructs itself out of surprises and reveals to great effect.

Just like Warm Bodies, Side Effects can be found on home media, and is also definitely worth a watch.
