Yours Truly review

Meh.

Ariana Grande is a very popular new singer that's taken the market with a number-one album and a hit single, as well as attacking the Twitter trends at the height of her popularity. Very few critics actually reviewed her album, but those that did gave it decent enough scores that it has a high average. So I decided to listen to it.

What "Yours Truly" really has going for it is Grande's voice, which is powerful and charismatic on the album's highlights. When the backing music is good-which, more often than not, it is-she manages to be charismatic and smooth. However, that's not enough to impress me.

"Yours Truly" doesn't leave much of an impact on me. It's mostly forgettable. While some songs, especially "The Way", are enjoyable, most of it really wasn't that interesting. Some of the songs are a little dull, and others are slightly derivative. I did enjoy the song featuring Big Sean, but I'll listen to Big Sean in anything, his hit single "Dance (A$$)" partially excluded.

Overall, however, I was only mildly impressed. She's a good singer, but there are many other good singers available besides her that have considerably more interesting music.
