October Buildup: Irisu Syndrome

Irisu Syndrome is a Japanese horror-puzzle hybrid that needs a patch created by 4chan to run. The patch itself is excellent, and is indeed very important to making the game as effective as can be.

Much of the game's horror comes from it creating and tampering with files contained within its folder. Often these are text files, phrased as letters to the characters. There's an image file too. You will want to keep an eye on it.

The actual game requires you to click on the screen to shoot white squares at colored objects in order to make them touch objects of the same colour, which causes them to disappear. It's actually pretty fun, with the only downside being the lack of an endless mode.

The readme file is garbled and unreadable, so only check it out to enhance your experience. Also: KEEP CLOSE WATCH ON THE PHOTO, IT'S ESSENTIAL TO THE GAME.

In summary, Irisu Syndrome is an effective blend of puzzle and horror that delivers on well-crafted scares while at the same time providing a fun puzzle game experience. Definitely recommended.

EDIT: Next is Eversion.
