October Buildup: Slender

Slender is a terrifying game, but you already know that. It has become famous for it. It lives up to the reputation, trust me.

In Slender, you simply walk around the forest looking for 8 mysterious pages. These are not as common as you may think, and you have to avoid the Slenderman while doing it.

But what does Slenderman do? Well, he can kill you, but not immediately. If he's near, the screen will turn to static. If you stay too long, then you get a jump scare as he kills you. This is certainly scary, but not nearly as much as when you don't run into him. The game just has an eerie atmosphere. The game has you afraid that every little tree or rock out of your flashlight's reach could be our slender friend. The ambient noises don't help.

It also doesn't help that the Unity engine the game runs on looks absolutely stunning, filling the world with detail. So, instead of walking through a dark forest of featureless trees, you have various little details appearing in the blackness at the edge of the light, and again, you fear that each one is the Slenderman, even though they can't be because there is no static.

There are various custom maps for download, and the game comes with locked content, Edit: What I thought was locked content is actually deleted content, sorry. so Slender is definitely worth a download.

Next is Irisu Syndrome.
