Skyfall review

This is my first Bond movie. Is it the beginning of a beautiful relationship, or should it die and stay dead?

Skyfall is stunning in every part of it's being. The acting, the writing, the music, it's all absolutely fantastic. Now, I have nothing to compare it to in the series, but it makes me want to watch more of them. I want to know more about this series. But, you know, let's go in detail.

The writing is superb. Characters are developed, dialogue is fresh and entertaining, and there is never a dull moment. There is constant momentum, even in slower scenes, and the entire film is building up to the end, where it lets loose with all sorts of symbolism about Bond's character and the changes that he endures at that time.

All of the actors fill their roles perfectly. There isn't a single performance that doesn't sell their role, and each of these roles is superb. But the actors go above and beyond just filling in their spots in the story, they become the character, and act with emotion as if they were really that individual experiencing that situation.

Even the soundtrack, composed by Thomas Newman, makes its presence known. Any songs that aren't ambient are intense and energetic, and perfectly fit the mood that the film creates. As for the theme song, Adele masterfully ties her lyrics into the film, subtly referring to Bond's past, his present, and his future. She starts out slow and calm, slowly building it up to the end, where she's belting it out like she's known to do, and it's wonderful.

I've only seen one bond film, but I'm already in love with the series. Even if you don't like Bond, I implore you to see this movie, because it's every bit as good as the critics say.
